While the moulding and casting process was ongoing, it was time to turn my attention to the bases. Literally turning.
I haven't done any wood turning in the past so this was a new thing for me, but I couldn't just use the manufactured IKEA base for the cloche.
I was really happy with how it came out, a nice piece of spalted and woodworm ridden ash. Really worked with the effect I was after, but the was a little snag. . not a very flat base. While I could have spent an age trying to level it, I decided it was an opportunity to add some more character. A quick foray into 3D modeling and I had some feet!

But I made two holders... so I decided to make two shards as well.... so back to the lathe it was.
